It has been a little while since I’ve commented on our adventures with learning the language, so I thought I would share a “lost in translation” story…
Delivery. services are HUGE here, and RIDICULOUSLY cheap (typically around €2). Similar to “Door Dash,” there are three main delivery providers: Bolt, Glovo, and Wolt. We primarily use Wolt because their app will automatically translate the menu (aka I’m too lazy to try and translate it on my own :)). Here is a screen shot of my order for Pad Thai:
While I was tempted to ask about what kind of an “allowance” I might qualify for, I was more intrigued by my “options.” Who knew you could have Smallpox delivered to your door for only €1? We decided to just go with the chicken.
(for those who are curious, this was a mistranslation for “shrimp”)
Update: The app now includes a disclaimer apologizing for any “weird” translations. ha!
