I may have mentioned this already, but, if I haven’t, you need to know that Croatians take their coffee VERY seriously. There is no such thing as coffee “to go;” it is a sit-down event that takes at LEAST an hour. What I discovered this week is that this coffee culture extends beyond the social realm.
Unfortunately, my allergies have kicked up in a major way, so I made an appointment with an allergist. After suffering through FIVE days with NO medication in my system, I was READY for my appointment. While waiting to see the doctor (we’d been seated for about 2 minutes), one of the assistants came out to where Aimee and I were sitting, and offered us coffee. In a doctor’s waiting room?! Back home, in the US, I’ve been in a doctor’s waiting room for over an hour without even being offered a dixie cup of water! While Croatians may have no clue about what “No Parking” means, they sure know how to make a waiting room a little less painful.
